This is the short, honest version. We've avoided the wall of legalese on purpose. If anything below is unclear, email us — contact details at the bottom.
What BrainDrop stores
Everything you capture in BrainDrop — your text drops, the times and dates you set, whether you've ticked them off — is saved in a local database on your phone (using the device's built-in storage system, SQLite). It is not uploaded to any server, and we have no way of seeing it. When you uninstall the app, this data is deleted with it.
Voice capture
When you tap the microphone, BrainDrop uses your phone's built-in speech recognition (Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer on iOS, Google's recognizer on Android) to turn your voice into text.
On modern iPhones, this happens entirely on-device — your voice never reaches Apple's servers. On older devices, Apple may briefly process the audio in their cloud to perform the transcription; this is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and BrainDrop has no involvement in or visibility of that process.
BrainDrop itself does not record, store, or transmit audio. We only receive the transcribed text from the operating system, which is saved locally as described above.
Notifications
BrainDrop schedules local notifications through your operating system. These notifications fire from your device, not from a server, and contain only the text of the drop you scheduled. No notification data passes through us.
What we collect
Nothing. We don't collect crash reports, analytics, usage metrics, device identifiers, IP addresses, advertising IDs, or any other data about you or your device. There is no third-party SDK in BrainDrop that collects this kind of data.
What we share
Nothing. We share no data with third parties because we don't have any data to share.
Children
BrainDrop is rated 4+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because we do not collect data of any kind, BrainDrop is safe to use at any age.
Changes to this policy
If we ever need to change this policy — for example, if we add a backup feature that requires uploading data — we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Any change that adds data collection will be opt-in and clearly explained.
